Abu Dhabi: Desert Safari with BBQ, Camel Ride & Sandboarding
- Small group
- Pickup available
- Duration: 6 hours
Abu Dhabi's scenic desert accommodates thrill-seeking adventure rides, sandy meanders, and romantic evenings. There really is something for everyone, so long as you can handle the heat!
Dunebashing is a popular activity at all times, but even the strong Arabic coffee won't invigorate you ahead of a long day sightseeing like an early morning adrenaline rush!
Dromedaries (that's the one-hump kind) have played a crucial role in Arabic culture throughout history. Choose the traditional option for a laid-back tour in the afternoon heat.
Celebrating a romantic occasion? Sounds like a great excuse to splash out on a private tour! Why not enjoy some authentic Bedouin cuisine as you watch the sunset over the dunes?
Just because the desert air is beginning to cool, doesn't mean you have to! Warm up with a delicious Arabic barbecue, smoke a shisha, and even watch an outdoor belly-dancing show!
Still can't decide on the best time of day to see the desert? Ride out to an overnight camp for an evening of starlit entertainment and a morning of strong coffee and breakfast!
Shared Abu Dhabi desert tours and safaris start at around €50 for a basic itinerary. Although food is typically provided, don't assume that it'll be authentically local. Customer reviews are worth checking for more info. Better menus and more varied itineraries can always be found for a higher price, but book online to take advantage of unique deals and discounts.
Even in winter, Abu Dhabi temperatures regularly reach highs of around 77°F. In summer they top 100°F, so don't venture into the desert without protecting yourself from the sun. Also, bring water even if bottles are included on your tour. Nighttimes are a little cooler but although the temperature might drop to 50°F in January, the summer nights can still hit the 86°F mark.

I can only recommend the tour. We are traveling with children and I'm always a bit scared about tours outside of the country, but this tour is planned from the pick-up to the return. We had a private driver (SUNIL) that was really great. You feel good immediately. He explained a lot to us on the drive. We don't speak English very well but that wasn't a problem. He then took wonderful pictures of us on the sand dunes. It was worth every euro. The drive through the desert was the highlight for us. Pure Adrenaline. We took everything with us for food, shows, camel rides, quad biking, sandboarding and of course henna. It was the best trip on this trip.
It was the most amazing experience I had in the UAE! All of the drivers/staff were very nice and made me feel very comfortable. The food was good, the dances were so beautiful! In the camp, we could do camel riding, henna tatoo, shisha smoking, sandboarding, falcon holding. The drinks (non-alcoholic) were free, and there was also coffee, tea and dates available. The dune bashing was super scary and great! Before going to camp, we stopped by a camel farm, where we could pet, hug and kiss the camels. There were around 50 camels. I strongly reccommend this tour, it was magical!
A great experience !!! I recommend ! First, crossing the dunes in a 4x4, sensational! The descent of a dune by sandboard, the unforgettable sunset then the feast in the camp with an excellent barbecue and an impressive show… Thanks to Saïd and Harris!
Perfect for discovering Duvai with 7 activities: Aquaventure, Burj Khalifa, Desert, Aquarium, Restaurant in the Mall of Emirates, Dinner on a boat in the Marina, speedboat trip around the Palme.
Very good experience, our guide Ahmed was very accomplished and very friendly, the dunes are great and the expedition surfing over them in the Toyota was great, the food was also very good.
