1. Bagan: Sa Lay Mount Popa Day Tour
Your tour will begin as you are collected from your accommodation in Bagan at around 8:00AM, from where you will journey to Sa Lay. Once there you can explore the Yoke Sone Monastery, which is the oldest surviving wooden monastery hall. The monastery is built on 154 teak posts, and features beautiful woodcarving decorating the outer walls. Whilst there, you can also visit the Hnee Phaya, as well as a local market in Salay. You will then drive to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano over 1,500 meters high which is about 48 kilometers south-east of Bagan. You will have lunch here, before climbing up to the top of the mountain. On the way to the top of the mountain you will see local monkeys running around, and once at the top you will discover a collection of monasteries and worship shrines. From the top of the mountain you will be able to view the beautiful green environment of Popa Oasis, which will create a 360-degree panorama around you. On your return to Bagan later that evening, you will make a short break at a toddy palm plantation.
