Bangkok: Damnoen Saduak Market and Maeklong Railway Market

1. Bangkok: Damnoen Saduak Market and Maeklong Railway Market

Choose from either a shared group or private guided experience to see 2 iconic markets on a day trip from Bangkok. See a market located on the railway tracks, the Maeklong Railway Market, and a market that floats on the canals at the Damnoen Saduak Market. After pickup, arrive at the Maeklong Railway Market, also known as Talad Rom Hup (“Umbrella Pulldown Market”). Maeklong is one of the largest fresh seafood markets in Thailand and hugs the track of the Maeklong Railway. Gain fascinating insights into how the market is run and what products are sold here from your local guide. Marvel at how market stalls and awnings are pulled back from the tracks every time a train approaches to let the train pass through. Next, head to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of the most famous floating markets in Thailand. To reach the market, take a short ride in a paddleboat. Enjoy plenty of time to meander around the colorful market, where friendly vendors sell directly from their boats. Take in the sights and sounds, and try local specialties like mango sticky rice. Your guide will give you advice on what not to miss. Return to Bangkok in time for the early afternoon.

After exploring the market, get back on the van and drive to the famous Maeklong Railway Market centered on the railway. Wander around with your guide waiting for the iconic moment when the local train comes at 11:10 AM. As the train approaches, watch the awnings and shop fronts get moved back from the rails, and then replaced once the train has passed. Make sure to have your camera ready as the train will not wait for you.

I had such a great experience. My tour guide Sara was so kind, funny and professional. She told us so many interesting facts during the travel to the first market. The guide also gave us good advice to enjoy better the both markets. :) the only thing for this experience is that it was a short time to expend in the markets, I really loved the markets and I would loved to had more time. However, I understand that it’s challenge to know both market in 1 day trip and I think they did perfect.

We enjoyed both the railway market and the floating market. It was great to see these traditional places and experience both markets especially the railway just after the train passes! Both markets were very crowded but we are still so glad that we went. The food at the floating market was excellent. I do wish we had a little more time at each market to shop and eat. The tour guide was very nice.

Our travel guide Victor is a very good and pleasant guide. Due to a small delay he adjusted the schedule a bit and we were able to just enjoy the tour. For this trip it is wise to buy a few bottles of drinks per person in advance. It can get very hot and busy on the train. Plenty of food and drinks for sale at the floating market

All very interesting and characteristic, if you are in Bangkok you can't miss taking a tour of these markets! No problem with the pick-up, they were very punctual.

Absolutely fantastic! Great guide, very informative. We all had so much fun
