Hang suspended, feet dangling, in front of a 20-meter spherical screen while a film whisks you away on an exhilarating journey across Iceland. Soar over land, sea and ice. Move with the arctic winds. This is an immersive flight experience. The ride utilizes state-of-the-art technology to give you the feeling of flying. Special effects, including wind, mist and smells, combine with the ride’s motion to create an unforgettable experience.  Before your flight begins, a storyteller and resident troll Sú Vitra will lead you through two unique adventures that’ll ignite your imagination with stories of Iceland, its people and the natural forces at work. Rides commence approximately every 15 to 20 minutes during operating hours. The total experience will take approximately 35 minutes, including the 8.5 minutes you’ll spend on the ride.

The Icelandic Museum of Natural History also has an interactive and engaging exhibition at Perlan. Finally, sit back in a first-class Planetarium to go on a virtual journey through the sky and experience the amazing Northern Lights all year around.

Experience a world-class Planetarium which is the first one of its kind in Iceland. Áróra - The Northern Lights Planetarium Show is built inside one of Perlan's hot water tanks and features a state-of-the-art 8k projection and 7.1 surround sound system. Áróra is a piece of art that brought together Iceland's most notorious writers, musicians, and photographers. Embark on a journey, through the unique landscape of Iceland, to observe Northern lights as you've never seen them. Travel across time and space, to understand the science behind the mystery, and the stories that have been believed for millenniums.

4. Reykjavik: Whale Watching Tour, Whales of Iceland Exhibition

Board your boat in Reykjavík's Old Harbor and sail to Faxaflói Bay. Faxaflói has a rich variety of wildlife, but you'll most commonly spot minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises and humpback whales. Ask your knowledgeable guide any questions you have throughout the tour and they'll be happy to answer.  You'll also visit the Whales of Iceland Exhibition. The exhibit features 23 life-size models of all the whale species found in Icelandic waters. Immerse yourself in the exhibit with virtual reality headsets, information stands, audio guides and videos. After the exhibition, grab a coffee and pastry at the café and relax in the exhibit's dreamy ambiance. Whales of Iceland offers two live-guided tours every day, available at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. This is free for all ticket holders. Note: You can choose the order in which you do these two activities.

Then, head over to the movie theater where you can watch a fantastic 4K time-lapse film of the Aurora Borealis. Projected onto a 7-meter-wide screen, you can sit back in bean bags or even lay down on a big wool rug as you enjoy this 30 minutes film. Marvel at the dazzling displays of auroral activity captured all over Iceland, accompanied by relaxing music.  Next, put on your virtual reality goggles to watch the world's first 360° movie of auroral displays captured at Iceland's most exciting places, such as on top of Langjökull glacier or at the edge of Goðafoss, the waterfall of the Gods. Aurora Reykjavík is a great alternative if the Northern Lights are not visible during your stay in Iceland. It's also highly recommended to visit the Center to get set for your own Northern Lights adventure. A whole team of Northern Lights enthusiasts welcomes you every day from 9 AM to 9 PM, sharing expert tips about the best places to go and the forecast.  There is even a specially equipped photo booth where you can learn how to adjust your camera's settings should you want to try your hand at capturing an auroral display yourself. Before leaving, be sure to grab a free cup of coffee in the Northern Lights Center gift shop.
