Full description

Take a guided whisky tour and learn the story of Scotland’s most famous product. Visit one of the world’s largest collections of Scotch whisky, with almost 3,500 individual bottles. Begin your tour with the story of the production and maturation process of single malt Scotch whisky. Then enjoy a sensory journey across Scotland, including an introduction to the five Scotch whisky-producing regions and an insight into their unique aromas and characteristics. Next, discover the art of blending, in the Blenders' Sample Room, learning the secrets of how the world-famous blends are created. Enjoy the chance to explore "one of the seven wonders of the Scotch whisky world", the glass vault containing one of the world’s largest collections of Scotch whisky (guests under 18 years of age will be given Irn Bru, a Scottish soft drink). Take home your crystal tasting glass as a souvenir. When you select the Gold Tour option, after enjoying a full guided Silver Tour, you'll then compare and contrast four regional single malts, while relaxing in the McIntyre Gallery. Assisted by experienced guides, and provided with tasting notes, you'll be able to sip like a true connoisseur.

Definitely a must do. You do not have to be a whisky drinker but it helps. It is fun session but also very informative. From the 180 degree viewing screen (Scotland is stunning) to the whisky tasting session which is cleverly done (won’t give away too much) but it was our tour guide, Johnny who made it just that bit better! Superb knowledge and we left with two new whisky types as a recommendation and absolutely love them (to Spey-side lovers, try Campbeltown - Glen Scotia!!).

The tour with the "barrel" where the whiskey production is explained is well done, and the guide's explanations of the individual whiskey regions and their characteristics are informative. However, it is a bit difficult if you use the German audio guide to hear the translation with it, when at the same time the guide is explaining everything in English very loudly in the background. The tasting is also good, but on the Gold Tour (where you can test 4 more whiskeys after the tour) the time for this tasting is a bit tight before the next group storms into the room, mainly because there are still a few explanations about whiskey production in this room that I don't have time to read/listen to

Fun and informative. We had the golden tour with the tasting. Very nice from start to finish. Make sure you have something in your stomach before you go there, otherwise you will notice the effects of the whiskey quickly. The only downside was the restaurant in the building. We thought we would have something to eat after the tour but we had to wait a long time for our late lunch. Food was tasty and nice presentation. Shop was set up nicely but some whiskeys were even more expensive there than if you bought it online. Friendly team with a lot of humor!
