Gettysburg: Ghosts of the Civil War Haunted Walking Tour

1. Gettysburg: Ghosts of the Civil War Haunted Walking Tour

Step into the shadows of this historic American town, and feel what it was like to be a soldier or citizen during the violent, three-day battle that scarred the land forever. Begin your tour at the iconic Brickhouse Inn/Welty House, where confederate sharpshooters took out union soldiers from the attic. Many believe their spirits are still trapped there. You'll then wind through seven other significant, haunted locations before circling back to the meeting point. Capture evidence of Jennie Wade, the only civilian casualty of the battle, as her spirit moves through her former home — seen through the fatal bullet hole in her door. Feel a chill scurry up your spine as ghostly soldiers surround you in the darkness. Learn little-known, behind-the-scenes information about the reality of war. Choose the 1.5-hour extended tour to visit three additional spooky sites, including Arbor House Publishing, which is famous for its 'floating orbs.

Gettysburg: The Wonder Women's History Tour

2. Gettysburg: The Wonder Women's History Tour

Discover the untold stories of female war heroes on this 60 or 90-minute walking tour of Gettysburg’s historic district. Your guide will regale you with tales of the everyday women who cared for the sick, buried the dead, and picked up arms as the Battle of Gettysburg raged on. Stand beside Jennie Wade, the battle’s only civilian casualty, as she hurriedly bakes bread in her final moments. Dig graves with the cemetery caretaker, Elizabeth Thorn, as the dead continue to pile up in the fields. Get a detailed, first-hand look at what it was like to be both a civilian and a soldier during the Civil War’s most dramatic, bloody battle. You’ll walk away with a complete picture of what life was like in July of 1863, where history books offer a very limited scope. Choose the extended tour to visit an additional three stops, where you’ll learn about the scars the battle left behind, and finish up with ice cream from Cone Sweet Cone.

Vincent was very knowledgeable about the area and had pictures to go with the tour! I had a strange experience the next morning…I wear a Cross necklace all the time and never take it off. For some reason this morning the chain on my necklace broke and my cross fell to the floor. I would think anything about it except I took a picture of one of the houses on the tour and when I looked at it you can see a weird haze in the window that was not there when I took the picture or after I took it. I tried to take it again but the haze never showed up again. Have fun!!!

The walking tour is an intriguing way to stroll up and down the historical streets of Gettysburg. The tour guide shared fascinating excerpts from days gone by. Throughout the evening's journey, Justin captivated the audience with tales of the battle and how such profound loss left behind remnants of suffering and mysteries that continue to dwell amongst the streets of Gettysburg.

Austin was knowledgeable and so friendly! We really enjoyed the tour and will definitely be doing it again when we go with family.

If you have the time, go for the extended tour; we bought the standard experience and the hour went way too fast!

Terrific atmosphere, the tour guide Vincent was very knowledgeable
