Full description
The Uffizi Gallery is an absolute must when visiting Florence. Built in 1560 and known as the oldest museum in the world, it was designed by the famous renaissance architect Giorgio Vasari, but originally had a different purpose. The grand duke of Tuscany Cosimo I de Medici decided to re-establish the authority of the Medici family. The great industries of Florence such as wool, silk, and banking had a huge influence on the politics in Florence. After Cosimo I eliminated most of his rivals he decided to collect the rest of them in one single building and give an office to each of them. In fact, Uffizi means offices. Cosimo's idea was to keep his eyes and ears on all of them. After Cosimo's death, his children lost interest in politics. His eldest son, Francesco I, brought his private collection of art works and made the Uffizi his private museum. In this tour Uffizi tour with a professional guide, you will not only get the benefit of saving your time, but you will also acquire inside stories behind some of the most notable masterpieces conserved in Florence. After your Uffizi tour, you are welcome to enjoy some refreshments in the cafeteria on the Uffizi Gallery's terrace. Take in the unique views of the city, relax and take pictures.

We were very enthusiastic about the know-how of the tourist guide, she could speak fluent German and made the tour very exciting. Since we had no prior knowledge, she showed us the most important works, which saved the tour from being too overloaded and so everything could be well received. Before the actual inspection there was water and gifts from the organizers and on the way to the Uffizi a little something was said about the city, which was a nice addition. The best thing was the technical equipment, which made the tour easy to understand even from a distance and also made it possible to move freely through the premises.

The guided tour with Victoria was pretty interesting. We got an inside into the different epochs and the corresponding artists. It wasn't too detailed and for us absolutely perfect so that we could get a deep inside especially into the renaissance period. We definitely recommend the tour and our great guide Victoria! :-)
