From Reykjavik: Volcano Site Hike with Reykjanes Tour

2. From Reykjavik: Volcano Site Hike with Reykjanes Tour

Set off on a fun day trip with a friendly, local guide. This essential tour is easy to fit into the schedule of a busy traveler to Iceland. This area is renowned for its dramatic lava landscapes, with conic volcanoes, fields of jagged basalt, geothermal areas, and geological marvels. Start with Reykjavik pickup-if lodging elsewhere, please make arrangements to go to the city. The stops we will make include: Seltun Hot Springs, where you can see a natural hot spring and see how hot it naturally is- it can resemble boiling mud. We will also visit the Reykjanes Lighthouse named Reykjanesviti, where you can look into the ocean and see some beautiful cliffs. Our next stop is the Bridge Between the Continents where you can walk and literally be in two places at once between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. If we have time and group interest, we may add the following stops: Leiðarendi Lava Cave (we will not enter the cave), Lake Kleifarvatn, Krýsuvíkurkirkja, and the Fish Drying Place. After we sightsee, we will do a light hike to visit the volcano area where the 2021 Fagradalsfjall and 2022 Meladalur Volcanos erupted. Please note, we can not guarantee an active eruption, and we might modify the route for the hike if snow or other weather conditions have an impact on our usual route. This hike has sections that are easy and some are more moderate, about 2.1km distance. If the volcano actively is erupting, nothing compares to the majesty of an erupting volcano. Flaming craters and fissures, gleaming rivers of molten rock, and a glowing field of lava make the time you will spend here unforgettable. Be sure to bring a drone or camera to capture this phenomenal event. If there is a major eruption, there may be age restrictions in place for the safety of any small children. If you are unsure, please contact us before booking. We are happy to answer any questions. After enjoying this incredible site, you’ll head back to Reykjavik with some once-in-a-lifetime memories. If you are traveling in winter-join us for a Northern Lights Tour! David the Guide started out as one guide wanting to share and give more. With growing demand, the David the Guide team has grown and the team of adventure-loving guides will be with you on your tour. This is not a one man operation, but a family of guides who believe in the vision David has for the industry.

Golden Circle: Geothermal Sea Bath & Farm Lunch Guided Tour

10. Golden Circle: Geothermal Sea Bath & Farm Lunch Guided Tour

Your guide will pick you up at a hotel, guesthouse, or a close bus stop in Reykjavik(see bus stops here), and after you will head on this awesome journey. Thingvellir national parks is the first stop. This is where we got our independence, this is where we took Christianity, the first church in Iceland was built there and this is where the 2 tectonic plates that Iceland is located on, move apart from each other. Thingvellir is not an only natural beauty, but this place is filled with historical events throughout Iceland’s history. While you are in Iceland, there is a “must do” to try all the authentic Iceland has to offer. You get the chance to visit an Icelandic dairy farm and enjoy what Icelanders call, Made in satin”. That means enjoying food and products which the farmers make with their own hands. One of the farmers which are 3 sisters and 1 brother, will sit down with the small group and hold a presentation. After the presentation, you will taste their homemade products. For lunch, they have 2 options: Beef meat soup with beef from the farm, or mushroom soup with mushrooms from Iceland’s only mushroom farm. For dessert, you will get homemade ice cream. After this nice visit to these sisters’ farm, you will continue over to the world-famous one and only Geysir. Why do I say,, one and only”? That's because this natural phenomenon called Geyser comes originally from this one in Iceland. Do you know what every Icelander is proud of? The iconic Gullfoss waterfall. Standing there and marveling at this beautiful waterfall is absolutely breathtaking. The water in this waterfall runs from Iceland’s second-biggest glacier, Langjökull glacier. End this tour in a perfect way. Iceland is rich of geothermal water and we have hundreds of hot springs all around Iceland. You have the chance to bathe in one of Iceland’s hot springs and it’s actually a warm seawater. These are luxury geothermal sea baths located in Hvalfjörður (whale fjord) and there you get the most stunning view while relaxing both mind and body. If you are wondering how to dress for this activity, we always send out emails the day before about how the weather is going to be. But we highly recommend bringing rain gear to Iceland. Does not matter the time of the year. In winter, bring rain gear and also warm clothes, cap, and gloves. You can also rent a parka for your tour. Also, remember to bring a towel with you for the sea baths and a swimsuit. Not to mention your smile We look forward to seeing you on the tour.

My partner and I visited Iceland back in November '22 for our Honeymoon, this was the first excursion we had planned and it did not disappoint! Our tour guide 'Siggy' was hilarious and really knowledgeable. The hike itself was difficult (our fitness levels aren't great but we did manage it) and it was worth it when we reached the top of the volcano! We had plenty of time at the top to take photos, explore (and recover). Would also highly recommend the Blue Lagoon afterwards too, it was the perfect end to the day!

It was great. And the guide was knowledgeable, informative, helpful, personable. Would welcome Trond to be my guide the next time. Of course the countryside was beautiful, interesting. Iceland will see me again.

Hike was excellent- guide provided crampons which were essential. Lovely soak afterwards in Blue Lagoon

An easy going tour with a great very knowledgeable guide
