Reykjavík: New Year's Eve Northern Lights Yacht Cruise
- Transportation included
- Duration: 2.5 hours
On the day of the cruise, there were electrical issues that resulted in us not getting the small yacht experience that we paid for, but rather, a large fishing vessel instead. It was still a small group, but not as fancy/cozy as I had hoped. The tour operator communicated well about this issue and offered the opportunity to rebook, but as it was our last night in Reykjavik & the forecast was favorable, we opted to go anyway. I'm glad we did! We got a FANTASTIC northern lights show and the guide on the boat was wonderful. (He even gave recommendations for a place to eat great fish & a geothermal spa that wasn't nearly as expensive or crowded as the famous Blue Lagoon.) I would give them 5 stars except for the fact that we didn't exactly get what we paid for due to the boat change - no warm blankets or wifi on board. However, the operator had friendly, helpful staff and did their best to deliver a great tour!
We highly recommend this event, what a fantastic choice for our adventures.father and son buisness that made us feel very welcome, really friendly and very informative. The yacht was perfect, a highly luxurious seating area inside, and a seating area at the top on the top deck. They took you out to the best spot to get further away from light pollution and once we stopped, about 10 minutes after finding our spot, the northern light appeared and continued to get better throughout our sightings for us! Absolutely fantastic! Would highly recommend!
The tour guide was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable and fun. I lost one of my gloves at the Globe and he offered to try to get it when he went back with his afternoon tour. Well he did find it and personally dropped it back at my hotel. I don’t remember his name but my tour was on Wed morning on March 11. He was also multi-lingual and gave his tour in several languages accommodating everyone by speaking their language. Whoever gets my tour guide will be blessed.
Met the owner off the yacht and his son so it’s a family run business which was great on the tour we got a glimpse off the lights but the information given on tour was great also and to taste off a local treat lol I just wish I’d have done this first as the guy was a local and gives private tours to other activities well worth it
A truly fantastic experience! Einar is an expert guide, super friendly and gave us the inside history on Iceland. Weather wasn’t ideal for a boat trip so Einar drove us to a spot where we saw the most amazing show of the Northern Lights! Best experience of our holiday!
