Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Bangkok and head to the west of Thailand, Kanchanaburi Province.  Start with a visit to the Thailand–Burma Railway Centre, an interactive museum, information and research facility dedicated to presenting the history of the Thailand– Burma Railway. Continue to the world famous Bridge over the River Kwai, a part of the Death Railway, constructed by Allied POWs. Afterward, take a long-tailed boat on the River Kwai to the floating hotel at River Kwai Jungle Rafts to have lunch. A really well organised trip that ran like clockwork! We started off in quite a big group, but ended up splinting to separate hotels, and so our tour continued with just two people, which was excellent! The Kwai Jungle Rafts were an incredible experience and I’d recommend to anyone. It was really interesting to hear the history or the hotel and everyone there was so friendly. Food was all delicious too.

What people are saying about Kanchanaburi Province

Very educational tour

Railway museum very interesting. Gives a lot of information of the hardships the POWs had to endure. War cemetery well kept and humbling. Floating raft hotel very piecefull and scenic. Back to basics was good due to no electricity and use of oil lamps. Suggest take gathers for phones etc plus a small camping light. Mon village visit ok but guide did tend to waffle and go off subject. Hellfire pass very good. Information centre small but gives good information. Recommend audio guide for walking the pass which is free as the guide was not great and u gain more knowledge from the audio. Train trip along death railway very good. Recommend paying the extra 150 Thai baht per person to stay in the first class carriage. U get a certificate, train ticket and drinks plus more space to move around carriage to see everything. In general carriage u don’t get this. U will be given option once on train.

Great hotel, just be prepared to get the full dose of authentic jungle experience as the hotel does not have any electricity neither warm water which isn’t bad as it’s so hot and you enjoy a cold shower quite much. Hotel staff is very friendly. Very romantic in the evening as they illuminate everything with oil lamps and candles. The boat ride is great. Quite a long way from Bangkok in the bus but it’s worth it!

Absolutely amazing experience. I got a thorough insight into the history of the death railway, as well as exciting rafting transport and a kind of open truck. Furthermore, the floating hotel was smashing romantic, all the hosts were sweet and helpful and nothing felt rushed. Worth the money!

Good break from the Bangkok metropolitan atmosphere. Very good trip with insight into another side of Thailand. The hotel is absolutely fantastic and it was incredibly exciting to meet the Mon people and experience their culture. Definitely recommended.
