Explore this historical stadium built in 1950 and re-vamped several times over history to host 1950 World Cup and some matches of the World championship 2014. Also, hosted the Confederations cup of 2013, opening and closing ceremonies of the pan American games of 2007 and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, in 2016. Besides the sport competitions, Maracanã has already been a stage for important events, like Madonna, Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner shows and camp mass, of the Pope João Paulo II, in 1980 and 1997.

Virtually self-guided tour with some explanations in between. But you could ask questions at any time. Entertaining tour - very interesting for those interested in football. Among other things, you can see a players' cabin, the players' route out to the stadium and there are photo points - you can have the photos printed out later or sent to you digitally (not included in the tour price). The meeting point was a little poorly described. When you come out of the metro, you basically go straight to the main entrance. One of the gates is open and you are let in. The tour then starts further inside the stadium. If you ask local people, they will show you the way.

I loved visiting the Maracana stadium, very well maintained, excellent exhibition, it is easy to get to by metro, around the premises there is a good restaurant and an original store for soccer jerseys and accessories, I had a nice time, the staff very kind.
