Full description
Begin the evening on the banks of the Colorado River, just 2 miles north of Moab, Utah. Savor a delicious cowboy-style Dutch oven dinner in a dining room overlooking the water. After dinner, climb aboard a flat-bottomed boat and begin your river adventure. A knowledgeable and entertaining guide will point out things of interest and ignite your imagination. Once darkness settles in, the formal part of the evening begins when 40,000 watts of natural light illuminate the canyon wall. Watch as lights, shadows, music, and narration make the stories of the canyon's formation, creation, and history come to life on the walls above the river - as learned from the early settlers of the area (the Catholic conquistadors, Native Americans, and Mormon pioneers). This Sound and Light Show is a not-to-be-missed unique experience and a great end to a perfect day in Moab.

We enjoy most activities on a boat including this one. It was just fun being on a boat at night in the canyons. The commentator, Rory, was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the area. The lights added to the spectacular beauty and I hope they will be able to work out an agreement with the state to continue this program. we would do it again.

Arrived 15 minutes before the tour and had plenty of time to check-in. Had dinner in the dining hall which offered plenty of food options and alcohol to purchase if that is your thing! Met others from California and Maryland during our meal. After dinner we boarded the boat and began the history tour. The boat tour took about two hours total. The sound and light show portion of the tour started with the history from the beginning onward about the area. The weather was perfect!

We enjoyed the cruise quite a bit, but were expecting something different with respect to the dinner. The food was fine, but it is in a hall before even getting on the boat so it has nothing to do with cruising. I felt misled by the name of the activity as a "dinner cruise."
