Full description
Discover the biodiversity of the 110,000-acre Maurepas Swamp with a true ecotour company that believes in respecting the environment. Find out about the threats that face this federally protected wildlife management area from one of the few tour providers in Louisiana that doesn't feed alligators. This unique guided kayak swamp tour starts from a private dock just outside the Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area, a 1-hour drive from New Orleans. Choose to make your own way there or select the hotel pickup option for maximum convenience. Upon arrival, get set up with your kayak, then receive a quick intro to paddling and a safety briefing. Once ready, set off and navigate through shallow waters and penetrate further into the swamp than most similar excursions. Glide through hardwood forests and swamps with towering cypress trees and Spanish moss. Learn about the wildlife, the local lifestyle and culture, and even the legend of the Rougarou, the Cajun swamp monster. Throughout the tour, keep your eyes peeled for alligators, great blue herons, bald eagles, owls, deer, wild pigs, and turtles. Birdwatchers love this tour; there are tons of woodpeckers, fishing birds, and migratory songbirds that live out in the swamp. The tour ends at the same dock where you departed. If you pay for transportation to and from New Orleans, the driver will meet you at the dock and take you and other guests back to town.

It was not what I expected at all . The only highlight on the trip was seeing the baby alligator . The tour guide talked way to much and made no sense was not knowledgeable about the trip at all .
