The venue itself was very cool. There were artists working on building characters for future floats, and the displays were colorful and fabulously fun. There is a short video of general information about the Mardi Gras parade, a very small piece of King cake to try, and a gift shop at the end of the tour. The venue is a warehouse, and on the day we were there, the doors were all open, so while it's probably rainproof, it wouldn't be pleasant on a very cold or hot day. There are lots and lots of photo opportunities. I will comment that the shuttle service could have been much better. I called for a shuttle at 9 AM, and was told that it was leaving right away. We were the only two people being picked up and he did not arrive until 9:30 AM. He did not leave until 12 minutes after the call and had to stop for gas first. Then his only word to us was "sanitize", to use the hand wash, said nothing else, and did not wear a seat belt. His dashboard did have signs suggesting tips.
the cafe is not busy at all right now so we were able to walk right in when we wanted dinner. the food was excellent and our server was very nice. good atmosphere and fun music.
It was a good experience. Was a little irritated because I paid for parking to be shuttled to the venue only to realize there is plenty of parking (free) at the venue.
I understand with COVID-19 we weren’t able to go in. It would have been nice to get the whole experience. The history was a very humbling experience. Loved it
