Full description
Remember the terrible events of 11 September 2001 on a 9/11 walking tour, and journey through the former World Trade Center in New York. Guided by New Yorkers with a personal connection to 9/11, the tour includes personal anecdotes and touching stories of tragedy and heroism. Meet at St. Paul's Chapel to see the church that miraculously survived the falling buildings and debris, despite being only a block away from the World Trade Center. It became a makeshift rescue center in the aftermath and its iron fence became a bulletin board where family members posted notices of their missing loved ones. Hear heroic stories of the emergency responders at the Firefighter's 9/11 Memorial Wall, and see the Engine and Ladder Company 10/10, the fire station at Ground Zero. Finally, enter the 9/11 Memorial, where you can pay your respects to those who lost their lives. See the Reflecting Absence Memorial, the largest man-made waterfall inside the 9/11 Memorial, symbolizing the vast void left by the tragedy. Look at the names of the nearly 3,000 victims placed around the waterfall next to their friends, family members, and colleagues. See the new Freedom Towers and World Trade Center rising from the ground. Stay as long as you wish at this beautiful 8-acre oasis. The following are provided if you have selected the All Access option. Your guide will then provide you with timed entry tickets at the 9/11 Museum and One World Observatory. The museum entry time can vary depending on availability. Get a preview of the museum to optimize your time inside. Once inside, you are free to explore at your own pace. See artifacts from the events of 9/11, and hear recordings from people who were there on the day. Next, take a 5-minute stroll to the Observatory to marvel at its engineering and architecture. Start in the lobby of Freedom Tower with the "Voices" documentary dedicated to the men and women of the World Trade Towers and new One World Trade Center. Then take the "Sky Pod" elevator, and ascend 1,250 feet in 60 seconds. Once on the 102nd floor, go to the See Forever Theater, before descending to the 100th floor to access the main observation deck. Enjoy immersive LED displays, interactive touch screen videos, and dining options. The main draw however is the breathtaking view of the New York skyline stretching across Manhattan.

Would thoroughly recommend this trip, certainly worth doing rather than just the memorial and museum. Eric, our guide took us around the area, explaining history, adding anecdotes and bringing it all to life. He was a fantastic guide and reallly connected with the group. The museum is an amazingly powerful experience too. There was zero visibility at the top of the Freedom Tower but the lady at the kiosk readily moved our slot to another day so we won't miss out. All in all, an excellent day.

We’ve used GetYourGuide countless times in other countries but never in the US and never for this type of tour. Every experience has been consistent (e.g., easy and convenient meet-up, knowledgeable guide, interesting content and an overall great experience). NYC was no different!. The meeting point was easy to find and check-in was painless. Brian (our guide) did not disappoint! (I was concerned that I had built-up my husband’s expectations too much. He is not one for group tours.) Brian was an excellent guide with a personal connection to 911. His stories were insightful and touching. His humor added a nice touch. It would have been tragic to go to the museum with having experienced our time with Brian! He made our visit to both the Museum and the observatory more meaningful.

Our guide, Ibeth, made our tour a very meaningful and emotional experience. In sharing her personal experience of that day, she made me feel like I was there. I knew nothing about the details of the memorial. When I share with others, even those who have been there, most are unaware of those details. Ibeth spoke loudly and clearly. She invited questions and made everyone feel welcome. I really appreciated that she told others on the tour to please stop talking so that everyone could hear and learn. I highly recommend this tour.
