Covid-19 Update

Due to health and safety regulations, this itinerary may change. See Know before you go for the latest updates.

Enjoy a 2-hour walking tour introducing the making of Harry Potter in Oxford and a 1-hour entry ticket and audio guided tour inside Christ Church College. See and hear about both Harry Potter and Lewis Carroll’s legendary characters, such as Alice and the Mad Hatter.

Book in advance to beat the queues at Christ Church, Oxford's most popular tourist attraction. Admire views onto Christ Church Meadows on the borders of the rivers Cherwell and Isis. See longhorn cattle graze and the dreamy spires of Merton College and Corpus Christi. Access permitting, you will also see inside another Harry Potter film site, the Divinity School at the famous Bodleian Library, one of the oldest libraries in Europe. On any dates when Christ Church may be closed, you can instead visit inside of New College instead, another great Hogwarts film site. On this tour, you will visit 2 of the 3 film sites (where and when access is permitted). While you may visit Divinity School, you will not visit inside the medieval library as it is not open to private guides.

On Saturday mornings, Christ Church Hall is rarely open but the tour runs anyway as the hall is not the actual film site. The film sites were the cloisters and staircase but the hall is one of three Oxford colleges which Warner Bros asked to film at and thus is an inspiration for the Great Hall.

Important information

Know before you go

  • If you book at the last minute the local partner can run the tour but cannot guarantee that you will skip the line. In high season, online tickets can sell out 1 week in advance so the tour will have to queue to buy tickets at the door
  • The Divinity School film site is closed every day from March 27 to April 3, 2022, and on April 17, 2022. On any dates when Divinity school may be closed, the tour will replace it with entry to Exeter or Balliol college
  • On any dates when Christ Church is closed, you'll be refunded or offered the option to visit inside of New College instead. If this happens you also have the option to reschedule for a different tour or a different date

Peter was a delightful guide and host for our tour and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful experience. Not only did Peter lead a wonderful tour, but he offered to meet with us the next day and show us parts of the university not on the tour.

Peter was a very informative guide who managed to keep every member of our family interested and entertained (incl 16 and 7 year old children). We saw many items we would not have noticed if we had done the visit on our own and were also given additional recommendations to make the most of Oxford. Would totally recommend the visitoxfordtours guides !

As it was a last minute same day booking, i am really glad a wonderful guide was sent to us. I was with my 14 year old girl. Laura, the guide, is so passionate, warm, friendly and professional in introducing and bringing us around Christ church College of Oxford University and also other colleges around Oxford. She helps bringing alive some of the Harry Potter movie sites and inspirations drawn from the Oxford environment. Laura is so informative and lively that my teenage girl was so interested and happy. Thank you for making our 1 day trip in Oxford wondeful and worthwhile.
