It remained like this for 90 years before work commenced again in 1272 but was halted once more in 1284 when Pisa was defeated in battle. The 7th floor was completed in 1319 with the bell chamber finally being added in 1372. The top of the tower can be reached by climbing the 294 steps which rise in the form of a spiral on the inner side of the tower walls (pre-booked tickets recommended at EUR 18 per person). Once in the city center, discover the city's prominent landmarks without too much walking as your driver gives you historic and cultural background information. Visit the splendid Gothic Church of Santa Croce with the tombs of famous artists and writers such as Michelangelo, Galileo and Dante as well as its renowned leather school. Enjoy a stroll around the lively and colorful market of San Lorenzo, where you will also find the Medici Chapels and the Loggia dei Mercanti. We enjoyed the trip and although the weather was questionable at times we were able to see quite a bit. Our driver was very accommodating with our schedule. There were 3 of us and we picked up our tour guide along the way. Please be advised cars in Italy are small and 3 of us in the backseat was rather tight. To be fair our driver did ask if it was fine for all of us to be in the car and I did not think it would be a issue so we managed. Our driver was also very accommodating with our pick up location as we were staying outside of Florence and appreciated being picked up at our hotel. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and kept us on track so we could fit everything into our tour. He navigated the train for us so that we did not have to stand in long lines nor stand on the train. He also would ask us what parts we would like to see the most and how much walking we wanted to do. I would recommend this tour to others.

David was an excellent guide. He is extremely knowledgeable on the history and architecture of Pisa. He quickly determined our level of interest and focused his commentary accordingly. The walking pace of the tour was leisurely making it that much more enjoyable on a sweltering hot day.

Was a wonderful tour where we saw both the big sights of Pisa as well as the town itself. I learned so much from David and was able to see beyond the leaning tower to find out what The city is actually like. I would definitely recommend this tour.

David is a very friendly guide with a good mixture of general knowledge and personal insights into life in Pisa

Absolutely amazing, thank you for making this experience convenient and easy!!
