Full description

Departing early from Hobart, you will drive directly to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. This area has amazing history, fascinating stories and spectacular scenery, and is also home to Australia’s highest sea cliffs. You will enjoy the panoramic views of the area from Pirates Bay Lookout, which provides a great vantage point of the surrounding area. Passing through Eaglehawk Neck and “The Dogline”, your guide will share with you some truly amazing history and stories of the area. You will then begin one of Tasmania’s “great short walks”, following a spectacular track of around 2 kilometers along the Waterfall Bay cliff top. From there you will be dropped off for a short visit to the Port Arthur Lavender Farm, where you will enjoy a self-guided wander around the Lavender grounds and can enjoy free samples of the local handmade lavender chocolates and lavender fudge. You will then enter the Port Arthur Historic Site, where you will find a wealth of information and history which you can discover throughout your 3 hours on site. Your entry includes a complimentary harbor cruise around the Isle of the Dead, as well as a guided walking tour with one of the site’s expert guides. On your return to Hobart, make a stop at the historical village of Richmond. Moving along, you will arrive to the historic Richmond Village in the late afternoon. There you can meander the streets, stop for a coffee, visit the Lolly Shop, and walk across Australia’s oldest bridge which is still in use: a convict-built sandstone bridge (which is reportedly haunted). Finally, before you re-enter Hobart, you will stop for a fabulous view across the city from a local lookout, a picturesque way to return to the city. You will then be dropped off back at your Hobart City accommodation at around 6:00 PM.

A long day of adventures, jam-packed with things to see and do, a mix of natural wonders and the iconic Port Arthur and surrounds. It’s a long journey but there are lots of short stops such as the Lavender Farm, nature walks, Richmond, photo ops etc to stretch the legs. The cliff top walk is breathtaking views and lovely refreshing natural forest- just right 30 mins length for all. If the Lavender isn’t in season, it’s a great little stop. But Port Arthur is the main attraction, with knowledgeable guides, incredible and quite tragic site, and a little Harbour Cruise to the Isle of the Dead. Port Arthur is a true MUST SEE in Hobart if you want to understand how this city was shaped by the convict trade. Every sandstone building you see in the region after this will have you wondering ‘did a poor convict make these bricks?’ This tour has a little something for everyone. This would be a REALLY smashing tour if we’d had just a little more light in the day.

I had a memorable trip with Tours Tasmania. Our guide David is very informative and engaging. He’s got so many stories about the places we passed by. First stop was in Boomer Bay for a quick toilet & coffee break. The view of the river is just beautiful. Then we went to the lavander farm. The lavander was out of season but they got good lavander products. The ice cream and the scones is something you’d wanna try. Then we went to have the 45min walk up the tasman cliffs. The view was amazing! We took pictures so we were a bit behind the time, our guide was so patient. Next, we went to Port Arthur where you can eat lunch at the cafe. There is so much to cover on this spot so you gotta be quick plus you dont want to miss the boat to the island of the dead! After leaving port arthur, we went to Richmond, another historic town, where you can get to try the scallop pie (i dont like it though but cute little town ) If not for the lack of legroom in the van, this gotta be a 5/5! Thank you

Was a jam-packed day with lots of variety! The Tasman National Park walk and views were lovely. The Lavender Farm is quite small, so only had 30 minutes there. The tour included entry into the Port Arthur Historic Site and a boat ride. My guide Andrew, and the other travellers in my tour group made the experience even more enjoyable. Would highly recommend for a great day out!
