6. Amalfi Coast Private Tour

Positano - The busy central Piazza dei Mulini is connected to a narrow downhill path and some occasional flights of steps that lead to the seafront. At Piazza dei Mulini, you must leave the car as all streets leading to the waterfront are for pedestrians only. The only way to reach restaurants situated on the beach, that serve fresh daily fish, is to go on foot. These streets also lead to the cathedral, ceramic shops, fruit vendors, and apparel retail shops. Positano is alive at night as well, with exotic nightclubs such as Music on the Rocks and various bars and cafes that remain open until the sun comes up. There is a short walk uphill to return to the car, ascending the mountain, returning to the main coastal road that leads to Amalfi. Amalfi - This coastal town is situated on a seafront port and a long stretch of pebbled beach. In front of the port of Amalfi is the only bus station along the coast. Behind this square lies the main shopping street of Amalfi, that ends at the furthest and highest point of the town. Along the pedestrian street are various bars and cafes, not to mention the many shops selling limoncello, casual apparel, swimwear, gifts, basic groceries, and of course, ceramics. However, if one would like to see more than just shops, Amalfi has some interesting sights to explore such as: a spectacular cathedral along the coast, and a paper factory and its museum. There are also some highly recommended local restaurants, which your driver can suggest. Ravello - The road to Ravello is a slow uphill drive where you will pass several wineries and olive factories. Ravello is a rural village unspoiled by tourism, perched on top of a mountain cliff situated above Amalfi and Minori. It is famous for its breathtaking views and ancient monuments best exemplified by the gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. In high season, these gardens are rich in sweet scents of blooming flowers and the perfume of lemons. There are also many classical concerts held in the gardens of Villa Rufolo, located just off the main square of Ravello; tickets cost approximately 20 Euros each. Apart from the main cathedral and the history museum constructed in the basement of the cathedral, there are many other churches to visit near the town square. Along the narrow arches of Via Roma, there are a few small boutiques, and some traditional local restaurants with unique and exceptional cuisine.

From Sorrento: Private Positano, Amalfi & Ravello Excursion

7. From Sorrento: Private Positano, Amalfi & Ravello Excursion

The first stop of the day is Positano, one of the most famous towns on the Amalfi Coast. The maze of small streets that make up the city are a “handmade temple”, full of craft-shops and boutiques selling several embroidered, hand-painted clothes of the “Moda Positano”, as well as made-to-measure leather sandals. Your second stop will be Amalfi, an ancient maritime republic. According to legend, the birth of the city is attributed to the Pagan demigod Hercules, who buried his beloved Amalfi here on the orders of the Gods. The main Square is “Piazza Duomo”, dominated by the majestic cathedral of Saint Andrea. Its stunning polychrome façade is an iconic symbol of the city, and hosts the Diocesan Museum. Whilst here, it is also recommended to visit the Paper Museum, where you can see how the “bambagina” comes to light. The last stop will then be Ravello, the gem of the coast. The town is a center of historic, artistic and architectural and monumental treasures. It owes its existence to Roman aristocratic families, who left their cities during the barbaric invasions and found refuge on the Lattari Mountain. Ravello hosts the famous Villa Rufolo, where Richard Wagner was inspired during the composition of the Parsifal, thanks to the dizzying panorama overlooking the sea. At the conclusion of your tour, you will depart from Ravello to Sorrento, before returning to your hotel.

Beautiful day! I travel on a Mercedes 8-seater, very comfortable and above all very clean; our driver Mauro was very nice and punctual, safe and pleasant driving. He told us anecdotes along the journey and accompanied us to the 4 locations: in my opinion perfect about 1 hour stop in each location, because they are very small centers so the time was enough to visit them. The driver always made us get off as close as possible to the town center in order to make the most of the free time available. Perfect to visit the coast as it would be very complicated by car (for traffic, parking problems). For lunch we stopped at a seafront restaurant between Positano and Amalfi (proposed by the driver, we all agreed so we stopped, otherwise it wasn't mandatory). This did not affect the time available in the various locations.

Massimo took us to the coast from Naples with Vito Mercedes .. Pleasant person described the places visited very well .. Beautiful Positano a real jewel on the sea .. In Amalfi lunch with amberjack in salt at the lido Azzurro restaurant always reported by massimo .. Beautiful and delicious ... We spent a day to remember on my wife Alessandra's birthday ... Exclusive private tour that I recommend

This is the best possible tour of the Amalfi Coast! Small vehicle perfect for driving in small paths and getting as close as possible to the centers. Giovanni, the driver, is INCREDIBLE and very pleasant. He gives very good advice and shows us the most beautiful points on the road. I highly recommend that you take the tour with him! Thanks again !
