Full description
Get up close and personal with nature and follow an expert local guide on an enriching full-day hiking and discovery tour exploring the Reykjanes peninsula, and the spectacular Fagradalsfjall active volcano. Start the tour with a hotel pickup in Reykjavik and head straight to the trailhead of the 3.5 hour – 4 hour roundtrip hike to begin your exciting journey over Iceland’s incredible volcanic landscape and hilly terrain. Make your way along the path with the unforgettable view of billowing smoke and red glow ahead of you as you walk towards several craters spewing bright orange lava hundreds of meters into the air. Enjoy 2 hours – 3 hours at the eruption site to capture memorable photos or simply bask in the magnitude of nature’s powerful ways before heading back to your minivan for more exploring. Stop to visit the Krysuvik geothermal area on your way back to Reykjavik, where you can walk between bubbling, boiling mud pools and volcanic steam vents. On your route, stop to see the 97-meter deep Kleifarvatn lake – the largest lake in the region – before returning to the city.

Very detailed and, above all, two languages, although only English was offered. There were many photo stops and enough time was given.

The volcano didn't really want to. The tour was still nice, also because of our nice guide. Thanks!
