I was picked up from a bus stop very close to my hotel. Then we started our journey towards the volcano. The hike was great. Everyone was offered to take a challenging route to the top. Those who did not wish to partake in the challenging part of the hike were given a different option. After the hike, we stopped for lunch. Fresh fish and chips and a fresh salad. Perfect. After lunch, we went to the blue lagoon. We were given two hours in the lagoon. This is a good amount of time although if you’re a person who loves to sit in hot tubs, you might wish to spend more time at the lagoon and therefore I would suggest going to the lagoon on your own and not with a tour. Our tour guide was full of knowledge and very friendly so that made everything easier.

Simon, our guide, was very nice and knowledgeable. He made the trip super interesting with his stories and curiosities. The volcano hike was incredibly challenging due the wind that was so strong, but we managed and the view from the top in that sunny Saturday day was simply worth it, absolutely amazing even though there was no lava flowing and zero volcano activity. He offered us hot chocolate, cake from a local bakery and Icelandic chocolate that translates to lava. The blue lagoon in the end was a great was to relax after the hike.

Matt was a great tour guide and kept us entertained throughout the day. There were some photo stops on the way to the volcano and although the volcano was not active, it was still incredibly impressive. The way to the volcano is very steep in some places. I would do it again anytime!
