Full description
Join a guided tour of the Pantheon and explore the history of the best-preserved monument from Ancient Rome. Founded in 25 BC as a temple to the 12 gods, the building went on to inspire one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance, Raphael. Walk in through the Corinthian columns brought all the way from Egypt, and step on the ancient original marble floor of the temple. Your guide will let you in on the engineering secrets that made this monument the only one of its size and age to have survived in tact from Roman times. Admire the beauty of its proportions as Michelangelo did when he first saw this architectural jewel, and discover the pagan rational behind them. Learn how the remains of many martyrs were removed from the Christian catacombs and placed in the Pantheon on the orders of Pope Boniface IV In 608. Marvel at the immense dome with a diameter of 43 meters, and its famous oculus that allows natural light to illuminate the beautiful interior.

We really enjoyed this tour with Samuele he was really knowledgeable and very enthusiastic, and was obviously very passionate about the culture and history of this lovely place, we were the only ones on this tour so were very lucky to have our own private tour, would definitely recommend it!

    Super narrator.

Samuel was very interesting to listen to, he knew a lot not only about this place but about everything in Rome so he could draw parallels to other things in Rome that refer to the Church. However, there was too little time in the church to be able to see it all, but since it is free to enter, you can go in there yourself and look more.

    highly informative, relaxed experience

we booked this tour out of curiousity, but at the end of it we were so pleasently impressed by all the interesting information and facts about this place that we didn’t want the tour to finish. Great guide Nick and very passionate about his subject, perfect english. Organizing staff very welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend this tour, it gave life to places we would have just passed by and take a fast picture otherwise
