There’s nothing quite like a home-cooked Italian meal, especially when it has been prepared with the help of a professional chef and when you get to enjoy it on the terrace of a beautiful Roman apartment. This is an experience that’s typically reserved for the real Romans, but now you can experience it too on this 3.5-hour activity. You’ll meet the chef at a stunning loft apartment in central Rome, and you’ll be greeted with Prosecco and snacks, the perfect aperitivo to get the class started. Enjoy the views from the terrace (weather permitting) as you get to know the other participants. The itinerary for the lunchtime class is slightly different. You will meet your chef at the meeting point and visit a traditional local market to shop for the ingredients for your meal. Soon it will be time to learn how to make pasta from scratch. If you want to make authentic Italian food at home, this is the number 1 skill to learn. The chef will guide you and the members of your small group through the hands-on process. Feel free to ask about anything related to food or Rome! This is your chance to learn how to cook and eat like a local. Finally, it will be time to eat. My 16-year-old daughter attended the class. At the end she expressed some annoyance with the fact that she was the only teenager in the group. There are only two options to attend (under 14 or 15 and above). She did not really find her place among the group and felt quite left out during the talk around the table. Alcohol consumption is also not appropriate at this age. I suggest better matching of content and party or individuation of instruction when needed.

Our chefs, Rafaella and Fernanda, were extremely charming, skillful and encouraging. They made us all feel welcome and peppered the class with helpful and amusing facts about Italian culture, cooking and restaurants. There were nine of us in total - a family of five, a mother and daughter and me, my husband and our friend. They patiently showed us how to make pasta, ravioli and Amatriciana sauce. They accommodated the dietary needs of everyone in the class, and they made it easy for us not only to create our own dinner, but to laugh, get to know each other and to sit down to a great meal together. By the end, we were happy, full and had made new friends.

It was our last day of our vacation and we wanted to do something special but not overwhelming. We had never done a cooking class before but I thought my wife of 34 years would love it. Needless to say it was a HUGE hit... We meet in a market, there where 11 of us, toured the market. What an experience. Then off to the house to learn to cook. I was concerned when I read the description the class not knowing where we would go to cook. But the location was lovely... Our instructors or chefs were very personalable, informative and overall great people. We really got a taste for the people and we loved it. I can not say enough good things about this class. Would do it again and again. Our pasta that we cooked was AMAZING!!! Loved it... Highly recommend!!!
