Full description

Travel from Rome to Pompeii in an air-conditioned private bus, accompanied by an archaeologist guide. Benefit from skip-the-line entry and enjoy a guided tour of the ancient city. Throughout the ruins, come across a death cast, a plaster recreation of an unfortunate citizen preserved by the superheated volcanic ash. After visiting Pompeii, drive up the slope of Mt. Vesuvius, (from April to mid-November), one of Europe’s few active volcanoes located in the Vesuvius National Park. From here, take a short hike up to the steaming crater for stunning views of Capri and Sorrento. During the winter season between November and March, Mt. Vesuvius is closed, so your tour will follow the coastline and take you to the city of Naples. Explore the iconic Castle Nuovo, the famous art deco Umberto I Gallery, or simply wander around the monumental Plebiscito Square.

What a great experience! Maria was very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint would be the optional restaurant they recommend.. definitely opt out and find your own place. The restaurant knew we were tourists and gave us horrible pizza, burnt with minimal cheese. They forced two other groups to sit by each other so they could save their table space for future customers, which rubbed me the wrong way.. Otherwise, we had so much fun and would recommend this to anyone who can is physically capable of a 20 minute hike up a volcano.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day trip. Our guide Barbara was extremely kind and caring. she kept us entertained and was very clear about times and meeting points throughout the day. the bus was cool with air-conditioning and our driver Antonio was fantastic. Pompeii was an amazing experience but you definitely need more time to see both the meuseum and the ruins. vesuvius had gorgeous views despite the hot weather

Our hosts for the day, Emiliano and the bus driver, Marius, were lovely and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend towards the beginning of your trip as Emiliano even spent the bus ride back offering advice for restaurants, food, and locations to visit for who wanted any! Bus was well air conditioned in very hot heat. The 2.5 hours in Pompeii is probably not quite enough (though was in the heat that we were doing it) if you are extremely interested and want to see everything - some of the sites such as the amphitheatre are quite a walk away from the main sites you will be guided round (however everything big is there - main square, gladiator training area, bodies, temple, etc).
