Vienna: Concert of Mozart's Requiem in Karlskirche
- Duration: 75 minutes
Free transfer with any bus, tram or train in the city of Vienna. We were able to use the CAT to the airport but we could not use the cart from airport to the city. We had the voucher to exchange but the Tourist info Vienna office at the airport closes at 22:00. I had to pay 55 euros for taxi. We were there one hour after that so we could not validate our vouchers. We also had to pay 2.60 euro each to reach to the nearest meeting point in Albertinaplatz/Maysedergasse. So there is no need to book from Get your Guide! I will take my cards next time directly from tourist info Vienna!
We had gone to a concert at Mozarthaus the night before and were so disappointed. Two of four musicians forgot their music. It was clear throughout that they simply did not care. Our fabulous experience at Karlskirche could not have been more different or better. The musicians were prepared and totally engaged. A wonderful evening. By the time I bought tickets, the only availability was up in the loft. In the future, I would try to get seats on the msin floor.
Beautiful building, beautiful music, and talented musicians! The only note I would have is that depending on where you sit in the church, the acoustics can muddy the sound somewhat. Also, the lift was out of order so construction scaffolding in the church obstructed taking nice pictures. Other than those minor things, my boyfriend and I had a wonderful evening of music in "inner city" Vienna.
The location and date was perfect, I had a great experience here. I wish I had realized just how cold it would have been though because I was shivering most of the performance. Though, ultimately the music was well worth the cold.
A highlight of our trip to Vienna , a sensational performance in a stunning setting. Blankets are provided as it can get chilly and draughty but wrap up warmly!
