City tour was good as they took us to places we properly would not have seen on our own. Alcatraz was great interesting and an experience but only that we needed to wait 1.5 hours for the ferry over as our city tour finished at 12 and the ferry to Alcatraz was at 1.30. We had no way of getting there earlier. Our ticket stated 1.30 and we were not allowed to get the next ferry. It was a cold day, so standing around was not fun!!! If it was in summer or other seasons of the year maybe but in winter not such a great idea.
We purchased a bus tour and Alcatraz Island visit, it was the only way to get the Alcatraz tickets. The bus tour guide was informative but it is not a great way to see the city. Your are on a nice bus driving in the city, all you can do is peer out of the windows. Photos are nearly impossible to take, we did stop at Lands End, the Golden Gate Bridge out look and at the buffalo pen in Golden Gate park. I would prefer a Segway tour combination or some other tour options.
The tour was great, Rob knows a lot about the city and you can feel that he really loves San Francisco. The Alcatraz tour was great with a use of audio guide. The bus has its own toilet.
Our guide Val was very informative n pleasant! It is a up hill climb - be ready for a work out! Lots of stairs! Stretch your calves! We felt our calves sore next day!
Really nice guide who had a lot to say about the city and knew a lot of inormation! We did 3 stops with plenty of time to look around!
