Full description
Enjoy a combination of food and spook, on this walking tour combining an itinerary through the well-known Italian gastronomic tradition and a wonder through the mysteries of the city’s evening atmosphere, enriched by ghost stories and local legends. The ghost walk starts from Campo San Bartolomeo, near the famous Rialto Bridge, and you'll take a fascinating stroll between the Rialto area, Cannaregio and Castello.  Around the Rialto area and its bustling market, you’ll visit some bacari (wine bars), full of character and populated by the locals. You’ll be able to taste some “cicchetti” (small appetizers of fish, seafood, meat, or vegetables) and an aperitif or ombra (the typical glass of wine in Venice).  Accompanied by your knowledgeable guide,  you'll endure the delectable tastes of three different types of wine on this evening tour. The itinerary may vary in order to avoid the most crowded areas, and introduce you to the more intimate atmosphere that permeates the town at twilight.
Includes
  • Visit to three Venice bars with one glass of wine and 1 'cicchetto' per person in each bar

Guided by a local, this tour was actually two different tours. After the aperitifs tour was over, we had about 30-40 minutes before the next tour started. Since we got rained out, we had time to go back to the hotel to grab ponchos. As the legends walking tour started, we go to be in the group with our same guide. The rain started coming down harder, which made it a little hard to hear the stories - and we were trying to walk fast from location-to-location. I would love to do this again with better weather, but note to come prepared for that!

Aperitif tour was a flop, legend tour was great

What was not apparent on the homepage: This tour is actually two different tours (from the same provider, but each with a different guide): the aperitif tour begins at 6 p.m. and the legend tour at 8 p.m. The aperitif tour was more of a letdown - we were led by an elderly Venetian woman to three moderately exciting places, background to the meal was hardly explained. In each bar there was a drink and a small snack per person. This was followed by a three-quarter hour break until the legend tour began. It was great, a committed Venetian with very good German led us through the evening streets and showed us some "forgotten" sights. Our conclusion: Aperitif tour was a flop and you can save yourself, the legend tour for it top!
