This hike is for anyone who wants to experience hiking on the beautiful glacier of Mýrdalsjökull. Located underneath the ice cap is one of the largest Volcanoes in Iceland, Katla which erupted last in 1918. You will meet your guide at the Sólheimajökull parking lot where you will receive all the necessary safety gear and hike towards the glacier. There you will get a safety briefing as well as a tutorial on how to attach the crampons to your high ankle boots. Explore the impermanent glacier formations as well as crevasses and moulins. During the hike, you will see the beautiful views of the area, surrounding mountains as well as some volcanic ash on the glacier. Make your own way to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon to experience a natural ice cave from the luxury of a huge custom-made super jeep. Drive for approximately 30-40 minutes to the base of the glacier outlet at Breiðamerkurjökull, where the glacier retreats every year to make every season a unique experience. Please be sure to arrive with hiking boots- athletic sneakers may not fit the glacier crampons. Þórsmörk is an incredibly beautiful nature reserve, situated in the heart of South Iceland nestled among the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and Tindfjallajökull.  This tour is one of the most popular ones, with so many spectacular hiking options and adventurous rides over various un-bridged glacial rivers. This is the perfect tour to explore the wonders of Þórsmörk while experiencing an adventurous 4x4 Super Jeep drive! On your hike take in the astonishing view over Þórsmörk, Mýrdalsjökull glacier and the highlands. You will also hike up to Gígjökull glacier where you can observe the effects of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption and breathe in the purifying glacial air. Þórsmörk is a spectacular place to visit, it has it's own kind of feel to it. It is Icelandic nature to the core. 

After being picked up from your selected pickup spot in Reykjavik, you will head towards Iceland's southern coast. Drive past moss-covered lava fields as well as quaint farms and villages going through an area rich in viking history, heritage, and folklore. Go past several major volcanoes - such as Katla, Hekla, and the famous Eyjafjallajökull. With luck, on clear days you will have a view of the Westman Islands just off the coast. The first stop will be Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, a majestic site with a path that leads visitors behind the cascading water. If it is not frozen during the winter time, you will be able to walk behind the 60 metre waterfall. A three minute walk brings you to Gljúfrabui, another spectacular waterfall, hidden inside of a cave. Afterwards, stop at Skógafoss Waterfall, where it is possible to climb 572 steps to the top to view the magnificent vista and rainbows above. After exploring the beautiful waterfalls of the South coast you will spend the rest of the day visiting glaciers and the black sand beaches. At the vast plain of Solheimasandur, you will see where, in 1973, a US Navy DC-3 plane crashed. Nearby is the famous Reynisfjara beach. At the end of this adventurous tour, you will return to Reykjavik.

Your Icelandic adventure begins with pickup from Reykjavik and heads out along the Golden Circle. Spend the night in the small village of Vík, and enjoy free time in the evening to explore the local area or mingle with your fellow travelers. On day 3, discover Skaftafell National Park, where glistening white sheets of ice contrast against the stark black sand. Afterward, take a tour of a stunning ice cave and see huge blocks of ice floating in the glacier lagoon of Jökulsárlón. Spend the evening looking for the world-famous Northern Lights, a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Day 4 takes you on a wildlife exploration through the East Fjords in search of wild reindeer and other native animals. Next, learn about the culture and way of life of nearby local villages then pass by Lake Lagarfljót, where a monster is said to live! Marvel at the forests of Hallormsstaðaskógur before spending the night at a sleepy village. Explore the geothermal region of Lake Mývatn on day 5 and see the lava pillars of Dimmuborgir. Continue to the Námaskarð Pass to gaze at the earth boiling and bubbling before your eyes, then spend the night in Akureyri, the Capital of the North. Finally, on day 6, wander along the breathtaking fjord of Eyjafjörður and visit Kaffi Kú to get to meet local farmers. You'll stop by Hauganes for a whale watching tour, included in this adventurous getaway. At the end of a busy and exciting 6-day trip, travel back to Reykjavik where your adventure comes to an end.
